Memories of a Geisha

In 2004,  just before the New Year, my daughter, Becca, and her husband were spending a couple of days with us.   A few weeks earlier, I had found a bin filled with shredded white paper in the hall outside a printing company in our building.  On a whim, I filled a large plastic bag, and stored it in a back room of my studio.  I had no idea what I would do with it, but it intrigued me.

It’s funny how things just fall into place sometimes.  Becca came down to the studio with me.  She lay down on the floor.  I arranged the paper around her face and cut some rough bangs.  I set up some lighting and took a couple dozen shots.  The whole process took maybe an hour, at the most.

After editing the images the next day, a light bulb went off in my head!  A little creative retouching and there she was…my digital geisha.
