“John Holt is a wizard and has morphed again"

My good friend and great designer, Doug Eymer (eymer.com) posted the above blog heralding the recent release of my new web site.  However, I cannot vouch for it’s accuracy..... I don’t remember any socks!  My memory fails me.

I’ve worked with John a number of times over the years, and he not only delivered creative solutions, making my ideas come to life, but executed them with the highest level of detail. His ability to work not only behind the camera, but 3D and CGI as well, make his craft particularly unique.

I love working with John. You always know you will end up with the shots you need. . . . and probably much more. He brings a unique conceptual energy to the process. With his deep and far-ranging experience things always go smoothly. When there are tight deadlines and huge client expectations on the line, this is a huge relief, even before even before the shoot is over.

"I have known and worked with John for nearly 30 years, and in all that time I’ve kept coming back. Because he’s creative resourceful, professional, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent. I promise that you’ll have a great experience if you bring John an assignment. Tell him I sent you and he’ll give you a huge discount."

"I have worked with many photographers over the years, and a few of the really good ones became friends.

When I say "good ones" I mean talented for sure, but equally important - good people, people you really enjoyed working with.

John never let me down in my professional life.  He always came through with whatever I challenged him with.

If he couldn't do it with a camera he'd do with a computer.  I would say: John I need you to put three hundred people on the head of a pin, or I need a shot of a mosquito's genitals, or the time I asked him to turn a human body inside out.

I embellish,  He never did any of those things, but I'm sure he could, if I asked him."

When I have an idea that I haven’t seen before and I can’t find even a visual reference to explain it, I can always count on John to see it the same way I do in my head. I guess that makes both of us crazy. Not only does he “get it” right away, but he can’t wait to find a way to make it happen. Sometimes even before the client approves it, John has already started to figure out how to make it happen. Not to win the assignment, but because he just has to solve it. I consider myself a relentless perfectionist, but John always outlasts me in making an image perfect.

"John is the most incredibly skilled photographer I know. When I started working with John I learned quickly that there's nothing out there he can't do. One time I asked him if he knew how to create a digital environment for a project I had in mind.  He said "sure." The next morning he was ready to work.  Only at the end of the day, I found out that 24 hours ago, John had never worked in this 3D software, and learned it overnight. At the time when most photographers were afraid to work with new technologies, John seemingly picked up new tricks every single week, and went on to become my most trusted resource for many projects to come.

John is the one of the best in the industry. He is inventive, brave, and most importantly, so darn nice."
